April 25, 2008 Civil Rights Attorney Available to Comment on Bell Jury Verdict – 51 shots are a Violation of Civil RightsLauren P. Raysor is available to speak with members of the media following the not guilty verdict of New York City Police Officers involved in the November 2006 death of Sean Bell. The former New York County assistant district attorney and former assistant attorney general and current civil rights attorney who represents victims of police misconduct, believes "51 shots is unacceptable from any police department. The system needs to be examined, including police training. This type of conduct by police officers is an embarrassment to our city and to our country. This is just the latest in a string in police actions that suggests police are using excessive force." Raysor is a former New York County District Attorney and Assistant New York Attorney General, and a former President of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association. |
