Sponsors Science Fair
As a public service, Lauren Raysor, a New York City-based attorney, sponsored The Learning Tree Multi-Cultural School Science Fair on April 24 at The Learning Tree in Corona. Ms. Raysor was joined by the school’s principal, Nicole Bailey, and the school’s science and mathematics department chairperson, Aqila Muhammad, who organized the science fair. Yazmin Baptiste was presented with the Teacher’s Choice Award, which is the highest honor given to a student.
Ms. Raysor’s generous sponsorship allowed trophies and awards to be given to the participating students. New York State Senator Hiram Monseratte, New York City Councilperson Julissa Ferreras, Nicole Gray of the Bronx Preparatory Charter School Parent Association and Archie Maybank, a local certified public accountant, and Professor George Williams of Medger Evers, who was head micro-biologist for the city of New York, served as judges in the science fair.
