Announces Jazz by the Riverside
Featuring Clarissa Sinceno
Attorney Lauren P. Raysor, Esq., author of “Living the Wealthy Life,” announces that Jazz by the Riverside will take place on July 8 from 6-10 p.m. at Riverside Church, 10th Tower, 490 Riverside Drive in New York, NY. The entrance is on the Claremont Avenue side.
Ms. Raysor and other luminaries will be on hand to introduce guest performer Clarissa Sinceno. A native of Harlem, Ms. Sinceno was influenced by the likes of Jessye Norman, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and Mahalia Jackson. She began formal voice training and studied classical music at the Harlem School of the Arts. She continued her classical music studies at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Manhattan School of Music.
At age 17, Ms. Sinceno performed at the Metropolitan Opera. She began to expand her repertoire, performing at jazz clubs such as the Blue Note, Birdland and the Sugar Bar. In 1995, she toured Japan with the Yusuke Hirado Trio. She also toured North and South Korea in 2000 with the Ebony Ecumenical Ensemble under the direction of Bettye F. Forbes. She has released three albums: “A Spirit Sings,” “Live Recording at Ridgeway” and “Simply Me.”
She has also performed onstage at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Hall. She performed in award-winning Mel Williams' version of the play “For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf” and with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company in the production of “Fondly Do We Hope … Fervently Do We Pray...”
In addition to the performance, those in attendance will have an opportunity to see an open rehearsal of the performance just before showtime. Tickets are $10 and the event is open to all ages.
“We are pleased to welcome Clarissa and her wonderful talents to the Riverside Church,” Ms. Raysor said. “Those in attendance will not only witness a powerful performance from Ms. Sinceno, but they will also get the chance to see firsthand what goes into a performance such as this.
