New York City District
Attorney Indicts Remy Ma
Rapper Remy Ma Charged with Attempted Murder of Makeda Barnes-Joseph
Makeda Barnes-Joseph will be speaking 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 7 about the
events of July 14, when she was shot twice in the abdomen in an unprovoked
act of violence that led to the arrest of the rapper known as Remy
Ma.
Ms. Barnes-Joseph will tell her side
of the story, comment on the lack of an indictment and thank the men
and women who saved her life.
"Makeda has gone through a difficult ordeal," Lauren
Raysor, legal
counsel to the Barnes-Joseph family, said. "In addition to the shooting
and the complications thereof, she has been portrayed negatively and falsely
in the media. She is the real victim and this is her chance to set
the record straight."
Ms. Rowe-Adams and Jean Corbett-Parker founded Harlem Mothers
S.A.V.E. last November to cope with the loss of their children to gun
violence. Now they are helping
other families, like that of Ms. Barnes-Joseph, whose lives have been altered
by gun violence.
The shooting is under investigation by the New York City Police
Department and any prosecution will be handled by the Manhattan District
Attorney’s office.
