“Living The Wealthy Life” Author
Sponsors Fundraising Performance
at Aaron Davis Hall

Play Benefits Youths Affected by Domestic Violence

Attorney Lauren P. Raysor, Esq., author of “Living The Wealthy Life,” is sponsoring a fundraising performance of an amazing rendition of “For Colored Girls,” which will be performed on October 16-17 on the Harlem Stage at Aaron Davis Hall in City College of New York, located at 150 Convent Avenue (at West 135th Street), New York, NY.

Ticket proceeds from the play — which is being presented by A Helping Hand Heals a Heart and Harlem Mothers Save — will benefit the first annual Catch a Falling Star Scholarship. The scholarship, which was established in honor of a brother and sister from Harlem who were murdered by their father in 2004, will be awarded to two children who have survived domestic violence in their families and who are currently in treatment with Safe Horizons, an organization that supports families affected by homicide. The scholarship will afford the children the opportunity to attend Harlem School of the Arts.

“I appreciate the opportunity to sponsor such a wonderful event,” Ms. Raysor said. “Today, children are increasingly and needlessly becoming victims of homicide and domestic violence inside the home. When their home is no longer a safe place, where else can they turn? These scholarships will help children escape from a dangerous environment and enter into a safe place where they can let their creative talents grow.”

“For Colored Girls” is a play that addresses the realities of rape, abuse and domestic violence. The play will be directed by the award-winning director and actor, Mel Williams. A portion of the proceeds from the October 17 performance will go to Momentum Teens, a non-profit organization designed to provide teenagers with empowering tools that enhance their communication, develop self-esteem and use their power in contributing to the community.

The play starts at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and children.
